“Biography
at its best is a form of fiction” Robertson Davies
(The lyre of Orpheus: 1988)
Benjamin Earl began his foray into the world of magic and illusion as a young child of 8, picking up on children’s
tricks and games that fascinated him beyond anything he had come across before, but his obsession only really took
hold of him in his early teens, when he was able to join prestigious societies such as the Magic Circle and the International
Brotherhood of Magicians where for many years he developed his knowledge and understanding of sleight of hand,
illusion and the application of different forms of magic.
By the age of 16, Ben was being heralded as one of the most promising magicians of his age by some of the most highly regarded magicians in the country.
At the age of 21 and with a strong desire to further his understanding of the power and importance of psychology in magic
effects, Ben applied to study Psychology at University. It was during this time that he began to shift away from the traditional
role of the magician and instead started to develop systems of powerful performance in keeping with contemporary style yet
retaining the clandestine influence of early magical practice.
By using psychology lecturers, students and innocent bystanders to practise his new found skills, Ben slowly created and
developed powerful systems of performance that started earning him a reputation amongst the magic elite and soon after
leaving University he began to perform, write and consult in a professional capacity and continues to do so today.
With multiple media projects on the horizon including DVD projects, book deals and lecture tours the future looks as busy as it does bright.
